Construction Programme Software for the UK

A UK master programme lives under NEC and JCT contract exposure, ISO 19650 information delivery discipline, and a tier-1 GC reporting rhythm most software still asks planners to assemble from spreadsheet snapshots. VisiLean is a scheduling and production-control platform built for that reality — a live CPM programme with Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6 and MS Project imports; a Last Planner lookahead pulled from the master programme; Takt planning for repetitive residential and fit-out; and 4D BIM aligned to your ISO 19650 model federation.

What is different about a UK programme

Three structural pressures shape a UK contractor's programme in a way generic scheduling software does not account for:

  • NEC and JCT contract exposure

Compensation events under NEC clause 31 / 32 and extensions of time under JCT need a defensible, dated variance record. A programme that is only re-baselined at monthly progress meetings cannot produce that record cleanly, and "we made it up from Asta snapshots" is not a strong evidentiary position.

  • ISO 19650 information-delivery expectations

Tier-1 clients specify ISO 19650 for BIM information management. Programme and model have to stay federated — activity IDs mapped to model element GUIDs, information deliveries scheduled against the master. This is a live coordination workflow, not a one-off deliverable.

  • Tier-1 GC reporting rhythm

Weekly progress reports for the client, monthly programme narratives for the PM, and a live look-ahead the site team can actually work to. Building each of those from a P6 or Asta export by hand consumes planner time that a live programme would free up.

What VisiLean actually does

Live CPM programme

Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6 and MS Project imports. Standard CPM engine — activity IDs, dependencies, calendars and float preserved on import.

NEC / JCT evidence trail

Dated programme variances attributed to reason codes; impact-analysis views for compensation events and extension-of-time submissions.

Last Planner lookahead

Six-week lookahead pulled directly from the master programme, weekly commitments and PPC captured from foremen and subcontractor leads.

Takt for repetitive work

Rhythm-based scheduling for hotel, student-accommodation, tier-1 residential and fit-out sequences — one Takt board, one programme.

ISO 19650-aligned 4D BIM

IFC and Revit imports with element GUIDs preserved. Programme drives federated model playback; CDE (ACC / Asite) remains client's choice.

LiveSite mobile

Site engineers, foremen and subcontractor leads update task status from the field; office sees it live, not on Friday.

NEC evidence + ISO 19650 alignment — the two workflows that matter most

NEC / JCT programme evidence

  • Baselined master programme with dated variance records against every activity.
  • Compensation-event impact analysis — show the delta a CE introduces in one view, not three spreadsheets.
  • Extension-of-time submissions backed by live audit trail rather than a hand-assembled PDF.

ISO 19650 alignment

  • Federated IFC / Revit models consumed from your CDE — ACC, Asite, or equivalent.
  • Element GUIDs preserved across revisions; activity-to-element mapping survives model updates.
  • Information delivery schedule aligned to the master programme, not maintained as a parallel document.

Frequently asked questions — UK

Does VisiLean support NEC 4 compensation events?

VisiLean does not file NEC notifications for you, but it produces the underlying programme evidence NEC clause 31 and 32 require — a live baselined master programme, dated variances attributed to reason codes, and impact-analysis views showing the delta a compensation event introduces. Most UK tier-1 planners assemble this evidence today by exporting P6 or Asta snapshots into Excel; VisiLean produces it as a live artefact.

How does VisiLean align with ISO 19650?

The 4D BIM view in VisiLean links directly to models authored to ISO 19650 information delivery requirements — IFC and Revit imports with element GUIDs preserved, so activity-to-element mapping survives across model revisions. The Common Data Environment (CDE) itself remains the client's chosen platform (typically Autodesk Construction Cloud or Asite); VisiLean consumes federated models from the CDE rather than replacing it.

Does VisiLean import Asta Powerproject files?

Yes. Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6 (XER) and MS Project (MPP) are all first-class imports. The scheduling engine underneath is standard CPM, so activity IDs, dependencies, calendars and float behave identically on import. Round-trip export back to the origin format is supported for planners who still need to submit programmes in their original file format for contract reporting.

Which UK contractors use VisiLean?

Galliford Try, Mace, Heathrow, and Mercury (multi-market including UK) run VisiLean across data-centre, airport, tier-1 residential and infrastructure projects. Full case studies are on the Case Studies page.

Can VisiLean produce the weekly programme reports NEC and JCT contracts expect?

Yes. VisiLean rolls the field week into a programme progress report — planned vs actual by activity, dated slippage with attributed reason codes, PPC trend if Last Planner is running, and a delay narrative. The output plugs into the standard NEC / JCT reporting template your project already uses.
