Data Centre Case Study
Categories: Data Centre
This project of Mace consisted of three single-storey Data Centres, split into three phases on a 95-hectare (Ha) greenfield site in Clonee, Co. Meath, Ireland. This case study provides insight into integrated lean-BIM implementation on the Data Centre project with high modular off-site production. The project effectively acted as a system comprising hundreds of such off-site modules. Hence, the team had to factor in each micro-level detail of logistics, production pace, resources, and other potential constraints. They wanted to ensure transparency and collaboration in their planning,  and control meetings. So, they were on the lookout for a digital platform to process information, reduce feedback time for action, and cultivate continuous improvement onsite.
  • Multiple channels of communication
  • Delay in handovers
  • Latency in progress update
  • VisiLean dynamically linked production plans to the 3D BIM model improving trade handovers to track activities in real-time
  • A regimented process in collaboration with the supply chain ensured strict discipline in the planning, scheduling, and control processes
  • VisiLean as a Lean and BIM integrated system replaced the traditional sticky notes with a systematic planning and execution system
